TRANSPORTATION
Flying
Some airlines fly directly to the Asheville
Airport, but it depends on what direction you
are coming from. If your airline flies to Charlotte
it will most likely be necessary for you to board
a connecting flight to Asheville Airport. OR rent
a car from Charlotte Airport. Take I-85 West to
I-26 West to Exit 40 (Airport Road) to the hotel.
It has been my experience that either way from
Charlotte (connecting flight or renting a car)
will probably take the same amount of time unless
your airline connections are perfect. If coming
by air, there is a free hotel shuttle from the
Asheville Airport to the hotel. Just call the
hotel (828-684-1213) upon arrival and the hotel
shuttle will pick you up.
Driving
Area highways are I-40 and/or I-26. Also,
the Blue Ridge Parkway celebrates its 75th Anniversary
in 2009, and is the most visited unit of the National
Park Service. If you want a leisurely drive, depending
upon what direction you are coming from, the Blue
Ridge Parkway is spectacular.
Driving Directions
From I-40 East or West take Exit 46, which is
the junction of I-26. Take I-26 East. Proceed
about 9 miles on I-26 East to exit 40, Airport
Road. The Holiday Inn Airport is at 550 Airport
Road, Fletcher, NC, at the junction of I-26, (exit
40) and Airport Road.
