2008 NCS Show David D. Eigenbrode, Show Chairman
“Mums Bursting in Air” was the theme for the show. The big banquet hall was packed - packed with hundreds of gorgeous chrysanthemum blooms and plants, and with beautiful arrangements. Truly, mums were bursting out all over. A total of 36 exhibitors made 370 entries in the show. Exhibitors came from New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Delaware, Michigan, and Canada. Eleven of the exhibitors were from the host chapter - Chesapeake. The Show featured a display of seedling sprays and disbuds. This gold medal award winner was entered by Tony Dorman. Also, two outstanding cascades exhibited by Rita Rover of New York were admired by the public. Bob Howell entered a beautiful assortment of fukusuke. 580 different disbuds and sprays were on display. There were 193 single bloom entries in Section A. Many cultivars had five or six entries. Trio disbuds in Section B had 51 entries while there were 19 vases of disbuds. Baskets of Palisade, Symphony and Resomee Purple helped complete the wide range of exhibits. Special thanks are extended to each person who brought entries or made an arrangement in the Design Section. Collectively, we did have “Mums Bursting in Air.” |
