The Hyatt Regency Bethesda
The Hyatt Regency Bethesda will be the site of our Mums 2002
event. It offers a combination of excellent location,
wonderful accommodations, spacious and flexible meeting and
banquet facilities, and numerous recreational facilities and
special services.
In this month’s special feature, we wanted to highlight our
host hotel.
Location
The Hyatt Regency Bethesda is conveniently located at the
Bethesda Metro Center, at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue
and Old Georgetown Road. In fact, the Red Line for the DC
Metro (subway) system is located under the hotel. The hotel is
2 ½ miles inside the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495). Another 6
miles down Wisconsin Avenue brings you to the heart of our
nation’s capital and its many historical buildings and
museums. Or, get on the Red Line and take a 20 minute subway
ride downtown.
The hotel is:
▪ 18 miles from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
▪ 32 miles from Baltimore-Washington International Airport
▪ 32 miles from Dulles International Airport
There are reportedly over 150 restaurants within walking
distance of the hotel, including and international food court
for breakfast and light lunches adjacent to the hotel. You are
also minutes from shopping at Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor,
Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstroms and Bloomingdales.
Accommodations
The hotel’s accommodations include the following.
▪ 381 rooms including 11 suites and 2 private Gold Passport
floors – the hotel has just completed a renovation of the
sleeping rooms
▪ A million-dollar international art collection
▪ 9 non-smoking floors
▪ 14 guest rooms modified for the disabled, 4 fully accessible
▪ Voice mail, iron, ironing board, work desk, coffee maker and
coffee, 2 phone lines in each guest room; marble bath with
hair dryer
▪ Free HBO/CNN/ESPN/TBS; over 100 in-room pay movies available
▪ Business Plan Floor with in-room fax/printer/copier, coffee
maker and coffee, complimentary local calls, and long-distance
access
▪ Video account review and video check-out
Meeting/Banquet Facilities
We will be using quite a few of the hotel’s meeting and
banquet facilities for Mums 2002.
The most noticeable facility will be the 7,200 square-foot
ballroom on its own private level. This room is also
undergoing a renovation, but we are assured that the mirrors
and crystal chandeliers will remain (upgraded, perhaps). This
level also contains 19 breakout rooms – several of which we
will be using during our event.
There is direct access to the ballroom level from the P-3
level of the adjacent parking garage.
The hotel also has a convention level with rooms for smaller
meeting. We will be using several of these also.
Recreational Facilities and Special Services
The Hyatt Regency Bethesda also has the following:
▪ Rooftop health club with heated indoor pool, whirlpool,
sauna, state-of-the-art exercise equipment, and TVs
▪ Gift shop; valet laundry; shoeshine service
▪ The Plaza Café, a casual 3-meal, 150-seat restaurant and the
Concours lobby lounge
▪ Concierge
▪ Business Center; Limousine service
▪ Underground garage parking for 1,300; valet parking
available

See you in October at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda. |
